I did not go all out on this project, but I did the parts that you need to do right pretty well. Obviously you can spend more on a home theater than you would on a small house or a large house for that matter. I could write an article about how to go about using the best and nicest components and how to pick out a TV programming package after all of the research that I did. I picked out the direct tv select package and that gave me a pretty wide selection of sports, first run Movies and the Television networks that I was most interested in. Of course if you were allowed to take only the channels you really wanted and not pay for any others I would be a lot happier. It is not how it works though and I made the best deal I could after I had thoroughly educated myself.

The picking of a projector and a screen was the big decision. You can easily mess that up, but in this case it was easier because the screen is going to be on the back wall of the basement and there is very little light there even in the middle of the day. There are windows of course and it might have been necessary to close the curtains if I had made a really poor choice, but that did not seem to be the case. I am talking about the way that some of those systems do not work well in bright sun light. I was tempted to try to skimp on the screen because that is a very expensive item that you might possibly be able to manage without. However I looked round the internet long and hard and got a good deal on a used one.

I wanted to learn more about Cable ONE. I had not had TV in my apartment since I moved in, but I started missing it when some friends talked about different things they had watched. A few of them had Cable ONE, and a few had DIrecTV. I wanted to compare the two to see which one would be best for me. I had heard a lot about both of them, because DirecTV is such a popular TV programming provider and Cable ONE is one of the largest providers as well in the United States.

I was able to find a website that had information about both of these providers, and that really helped me to compare the two to see which would be the best one for me. What I liked about Cable ONE is that they offer two different kinds of programming packages. The first is economy that offers mostly local programming. The other is standard, and that is the kind that most people have since it includes national programming as well as a lot of perks in the equipment. When I looked at DirecTV, I saw where they have quite a few packages though, and I knew that I was going to be able to find one that is better suited for me from them.

There are a lot of extras thrown in with DirecTV too, and that just made my choice that much easier. I was able to get all of the premium movie channels like HBO, Cinemax, Starz and the rest for three months. The great thing is that I can even record from these channels and watch even after the three month trial period is up. I liked the price for the programming package that I wanted, and that is how I ended up becoming a DirecTV customer.
